In spite of recession, the communication industry, worth £52 billion, is making money in the UK. Communication, whether internet or mobile or TV, has become so important to people that they are ready to forego other expenditures like holidays in order to be able to afford these means of communication.

Annual Communications Market Report of Ofcom, which studies the market of all kinds of communication services, says that while all modes of communication are growing, mobile broadband is the fastest growing of them all. This technology is spreading so fast that around a quarter of a million mobile broadband connections were taken in just one month last year.

With the sector growing so rapidly, it was observed that around 12% of houses had opted for mobile broadband by the first quarter and 75% of these houses already had fixed line internet connections. This shows that while mobile broadband is becoming popular (take a look at Orange Mobile Broadband for instance), it has not totally done away with the need for fixed line broadband.

However, this does not mean that recession has not had an effect on people because they are definitely seeking to save money. Thus, while they are ready to spend on communication they are seeking deals that give best offers at lowest prices, which usually happens in bundled offers.
