Eclipse Internet, a leading broadband provider in the UK, is eyeing small businesses to promote its swine flu support solutions. The company has come out with new business continuity plans for small firms in case they are hit by swine flu.

The new offering from Eclipse provides the businesses with uninterrupted and dedicated support and helps them asses their susceptibility to the feared pandemic. The service provider has prepared a five-step self-assessment questionnaire for companies, after which they are recommended improved products on broadband deals based on their needs.

According to Eclipse business specialist Mark Thomas, the recent swine flu pandemic has revealed the vulnerability of a majority of small businesses to deal with such disasters, thereby justifying their decision of setting up a dedicated swine flu site. He stressed it is high time businesses started calculating the risks of swine flu to their operations.

Recent research by the National Archives and Records Administration made a startling revelation that over 80 percent of businesses, which do not have established and dependable continuity plans to counter pandemics and other such calamities, are ruined within two years. The government’s prediction of swine flu peaking later in the year and increasing absenteeism to over 50 percent is certainly unwelcome news for businesses.
