Now that a theme has been chosen, consider the cloths, fabrics, and papers you wish to use. For example, you may wish to use scrapbooking rubber stamps in the scrapbook.

An effective tip to defining the subject of the page is to give it a title. Use stickers or die cut letters to write your title, or even print it directly from your computer.

If you’re composing a small journal on the page, scribble it out on notepaper beforehand to make sure the wording is correct.

There’s no stringent convention regarding how many photographs to place on any given page, but they ought to have some type of link to your theme. Choose an assortment of photos that you can use as you layout the page.

Are you a collector of beautiful antique silver, or would like to be, but don’t know where to begin? Don’t be timid; there are a veritable smorgasbord of books and websites to help you in your journey. The following tips will help you in becoming a collector of these stunning pieces of history.

The first thing to remember is that the classification “sterling” is only found on pieces after 1860. Antique silver pieces found before that date are extremely rare and typically marked with only the name or initials of the maker.

Antique silver can also be silver plated. These pieces often have the company or maker name on them. Terms such as “quadruple plate”, or “A1″ are often seen on these.

Antique silver does not necessarily decrease in value with minimal signs of usage. This is to be expected in an item this old. Even slight damage on a rare piece won’t diminish the value greatly. Use caution when you buy antique silver online, as a great deal of tarnish can hide or minimize damage, or repairs.

The main cause of tarnish is humidity. While we can’t store our antique silver in humidity controlled rooms the way fine museums do, we can take steps to minimize the tarnish we have to deal with. Don’t ever store your silver in basements or attics. Camphor blocks are available to place near your silver pieces, as long as they don’t directly touch the silver; this is a widely used and effective tool. There are also silver anti-tarnish cloths and papers which can be placed amongst your silver ware to aid in this prevention. Special bags can be bought for those pieces really dear to you, while this is a great aid; a little polishing here and there is to be expected.

Antique silver is great as a collectible, but also as a unique and lovely heirloom. This hobby can bring a lot of joy to the collector.

Stencil graffiti, made famous by Banksy over the last couple of years, has actually been a form of street art for 25 years. You can employ cardboard, paper or other forms of media (such as plastics) to develop templated graphics and text. You simply cut out the shapes from your paper/cardboard/other surface, put said surface onto a wall (example), then spray or roll-on paint.

The basic principle of stencilling is creating outlines via cutting shapes, and spraying paint within these cutout shapes - producing unmistakable images on the surface underneath. It’s also feasible to use multiple layers of stencils to produce an illusion of depth or even add colours.

There are myriad reasons for being a stencil graffiti artist. For some, it is a great platform to communicate a political point. Many stencil artists appreciate the publicity that their artwork can obtain. Some merely wish their work to be seen. Because the stencil stays uniform during its use, it is far easier for an artist to quickly copy what could be a complex artwork at a very quick rate, when compared to other traditional tagging methods, so without question, there is also a strong self-promoting reason to choose stencilling.

Banksy has used stencilling as a means to make a point, often rather succinctly, providing the spectator to work out that very point in their head. This is often why people enjoy his artworks so much, as they force the viewer to contemplate on the meaning behind the artwork. Banksy artwork is being reprinted on canvas, t-shirts and posters, such is the popularity of the street artist.

Weep for the one you slay today! The one you found at last.
Mourn for Atahualpa, for war has come and passed;
It was he who flamed the hearts so deep, with heroic

Breath, and now

Now Pizarro’s sword is laid and armor hangs in the house

Of Cajamarca….
Weep for the one so swift to slay, whom they shall hang

Todayin Cajamarca!

#1305 4/8/06 Note: Atahualpa, was king of the Incas, perhaps the most noted one in Inca history, or one of the most famous Incas at least. He was killed in Cajamarca, Peru, in the 16th Century, and of course there are many legends that surround his last days; those days in a Spanish Prison, in this Northern Peruvian city. I suppose, if the city is famous for anything, it is famous more for the death and incarceration of Atahualpa, than anything else. I am not here to judge history, or to say how bad the Spanish were, or how cruel the Incas were. And I’m sure we could point fingers at both of them for their atrocities, for the Inca Empire did not acquire its grand conquering status (likened to the Romans) by being less cruel than the Spanish, but it was Atahualpa, who was the headlines of the day, and all the gold the Inca world could gather, did not save him.
